I knew this would be gritty because I met the author before I got to read it. She shared some of her personal history with me, some of which I later discovered within the winding story she weaved into this book. Her life, so inexplicably complicated and raw, brought me to tears, got me raging over obvious injustices and misunderstandings, and tore at the heart of my flawed humanity. This woman's story of personal, persistent resilience will leave you feeling inspired and hopeful as she walks you through some of the most challenging moments of her life. It's proof that we can overcome anything and become kinder, gentler, and more loving because of it.
